The Role:
Working out of the Launceston Office, the Environmental Health Officer will undertake a range of activities in relation to the promotion, regulation, monitoring and assessment of public and environmental health issues, including:
- Providing high level technical and regulatory support to assist the Department meet both long- and short-term public health objectives.
- Contribute to the ongoing implementation and review of the Public Health Act and its associated guidelines/policies.
- Work closely with other Government Agencies, Local Government authorities and other stakeholders to progress environmental health priorities in Tasmania.
You will need to:
- Implement statewide programs to enhance and develop environmental health management.
- Develop and evaluate guidelines, policies and practices through extensive consultation and negotiation with stakeholders.
- Undertake risk assessments and investigations relating to the environmental health issues and legislation.

Details of appointment: Allied Health Professional, Level 3
Permanent full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $110,425 to $121,907 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No.2 of 2022 .
- Please note that access to salaries beyond $119,290 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme.
