Clinical Services is the heart of professional practice, quality, education, research, and governance at Ambulance Tasmania. We lead and support the development of clinical excellence across the state, working to ensure our paramedics and clinical teams deliver safe, evidence-based, and compassionate care to the Tasmanian community.
As part of the Department of Health, our team plays a vital role in strengthening healthcare outcomes by shaping clinical standards, fostering continuous learning, translating research into practice, and driving quality improvement initiatives. We work in partnership with frontline staff, leadership teams, the University of Tasmania, and other key stakeholders to support a high-performing, future-ready ambulance service.
The Role:
The Executive Support Officer plays a vital role in enabling the smooth operation of the Clinical Services leadership team at Ambulance Tasmania. Reporting directly to the Executive Director - Clinical Services, this position provides high-level administrative and executive support across a range of sensitive, complex, and critical activities.
Key responsibilities include managing the day-to-day administration of the Executive Director’s office, coordinating complex documentation such as Department Minutes, Ministerial Briefs, and Question Time Briefs, and maintaining efficient communication systems to ensure timely flow of information across Clinical Services, the Department of Health, and other key stakeholders.
The Executive Support Officer will be responsible for coordinating meetings, conferences, and projects; providing secretariat support to governance committees; managing confidential records and correspondence; and delivering accurate and timely administrative research and reporting as needed.
This role demands a high degree of professionalism, initiative, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, sensitive environment. The Executive Support Officer also plays an important part in upholding Clinical Services’ commitment to quality, governance, and continuous improvement, supporting better outcomes for our people and the communities we serve.
You will need
- Sound knowledge of contemporary office management practices and administrative skills.
- Demonstrated organisational and self-management skills with the ability to meet concurrent deadlines with a high degree of accuracy within a busy office environment.
- High level interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills to effectively liaise with Agency staff, other emergency organisations as well as clients in a sensitive and confidential manner

Details of appointment:
Permanent, full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $73,811 to $79,779 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022
