Job description:

The Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) in the NWRH ICU is accountable for applying nursing expertise and contemporary teaching and learning practice to implement education programs for nurses that align with the strategic priorities of Hospitals North West, respond to emerging clinical need and facilitates professional development for the nursing workforce.

The Team:

The North West Regional Hospital's Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is a vital clinical service supporting the hospital operations by providing high level Intensive care and outreach services to both the North West Regional Hospital and the adjoining North West Private Hospital patients. It is a 8-bed Level 2 ICU with a general case-mix of patients including (but not limited to) the following:

  • Trauma
  • Sepsis and multi-system failure
  • Elective and Emergency surgeries
  • Acute cardiac and respiratory illnesses and emergencies
  • Obstetric emergencies
  • Elective procedures such as Cardioversion, Peripherally inserted central catheters (PICC), Central venous lines, Intercostal catheters

The Role:

The Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) in the NWRH ICU is accountable for applying nursing expertise and contemporary teaching and learning practice to implement education programs for nurses that align with the strategic priorities of Hospitals North West, respond to emerging clinical need and facilitates professional development for the nursing workforce.

• Leads safe and quality nursing care through the advancement of evidence-based nursing practice and patient-centred care in an area of clinical and professional speciality.
• Applies high level professional and clinical expertise in collaboration with nursing, midwifery and multidisciplinary stakeholders to enact education and development strategies for nursing and midwifery practice and the Organisation.
• Plans, assesses, implements and evaluates educational programs to ensure they align with the needs of the Organisation and nursing workforce.
• Models commitments to the values of the nursing profession including open communication to build respectful relationships across the multidisciplinary team and has accountability, integrity, and contributes to positive workplace culture.
• Works in accordance with the strategic direction of Hospitals North West and the Organisation's Nursing and Midwifery Strategic Framework

You will need:

  • high level written and interpersonal communication skills
  • sound understanding of contemporary education and professional development issues
  • high level of knowledge, skills and clinical expertise in a specialised area of practice

Details of appointment:

Permanent part time, day worker position, working 52 hours per fortnight, commencing from a mutually agreed upon date. 

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $114,851 to $121,886 per annum Pro rata. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10 % based on qualification type

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

  • Holds, or is currently working towards, postgraduate qualifications in education and/or clinical teaching and learning
  • Holds, or is currently working towards, postgraduate qualifications in the area of clinical/practice speciality as relevant to the position
