The Team:

Oral Health Services Tasmania (OHST) is a vital part of the Tasmanian Department of Health, delivering high-quality public dental care across the state. OHST provides a wide range of services including preventative, restorative, and emergency dental care for children, adults, and those with special needs. With a strong focus on community education and early intervention, OHST is committed to improving oral health outcomes and ensuring equitable access to care for all Tasmanians.

The Role:

Work within a dental team to provide an efficient and effective, high quality, dental prosthetic service within the framework of Oral Health Services Tasmania (OHST). A Band 4 Dental Technician in Tasmania plays a crucial role in the state's oral health services. They are responsible for designing, constructing, and repairing dental prosthetics, including dentures, crowns, and bridges. Working within Oral Health Services Tasmania, they contribute to the care of over 50,000 patients annually. Their expertise ensures that patients receive high-quality, functional, and aesthetically pleasing dental appliances.

Provide dental prosthetic technical expertise and construction in the recognised fields of:

  • Removable dental prostheses.
  • Fixed dental prostheses.
  • Maxillo-facial prostheses.
  • Repairs, additions, relines and remodels.
  • Simple orthodontic appliances.
  • Protective mouthguards.
  • Bleaching and fluoride trays.
  • Other prosthetic appliances which OHST may include within its core business for eligible clients of the service.
  • Maintain a collaborative relationship with dental clinicians and ancillary staff to ensure conformity in the production of quality dental prostheses.
  • Undertake dental technical laboratory duties and assist in the training of trainees.
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the dental team to ensure that dental undergraduates and less experienced staff understand the processes of dental technical construction.

You will need:

Diploma of Dental Technology or recognised equivalent

Details of appointment:

Fixed term full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, for a period of twelve months, commencing as soon as possible.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary: $81,915 to $94,263 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022.
