The Team:
We are seeking a Registrar to join our Adult Mental Health Services team in a dynamic and supportive environment. This 12-month Mental Health Advanced Skills Training position is fully accredited by both the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) and the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) as an Advanced Skills Training (AST) / Additional Rural Skills Training (ARST) post.

The Role:
The purpose of the position is the care and treatment of psychiatric patients in Mental Health Services North, including rostered emergency cover, as a junior doctor in supervision.
- Provide clinical services, including assessment, treatment, and further reviews of clients in the allocated service/training rotation.
- Ensure availability during working hours for emergencies as required and provide out-of-hours service in accordance with an approved roster (remote call).
- Documentation of all clinical contacts in accordance with Department requirements, including completion of discharge summaries within the required time period.
- Seek supervision and support for clinical decisions in accordance with level of knowledge and experience.
- Participate in team meetings, staff meetings and quality activities of Mental Health Services.
- Participate in supervision of Resident Medical Officers and teaching of medical students in psychiatry.

Details of appointment:
Fixed term full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible for a period of 12 month.
- You will receive 10 hours of paid, protected training time per fortnight, pro rata.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant

Salary:
Medical Practitioner Level 5 - 11 $134,930 - $189,005 per annum, pro rata + 11.5% superannuation + access to salary packaging
- Salary range is in accordance with Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022

Eligibility: Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria as
- General or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia
- Current Working with Children Registration (where applicable and as determined by individual position requirements)
- Enrolled and completing training in the medical specialty of psychiatry with RANZCP
*Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment. It is the employee’s responsibility to ensure that registration/licences remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change. This includes notifying the Employer if a registration/licence is revoked, cancelled or has its conditions altered.

- Has successfully completed all fellowship examinations relevant to their training program and employment and is within 1 year of obtaining specialist fellowship
