Job description:

The Department of Health are seeking a motivated and suitably experienced Assistant Director of Nursing to join the Sub-Acute, Aged & Community Services team.

The Team:

Sub-Acute, Aged & Community Services (SAACS) clinical stream is part of Hospitals South and provides care options for people including Older Person Acute Care, GEM, Sub Acute Care, Rehabilitation and Palliative Care services.  SAACS Inpatient services are located at the Royal Hobart Hospital and Repatriation Hospital sites in Hobart.  SAACS also provides a range of community based care and support services, District Hospitals services and Aged Care services.

The Role:

The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) - Sub-Acute & Aged Services provides effective leadership and management in a complex multidisciplinary environment to achieve the defined objectives of the clinical services within Sub-Acute & Aged Services and provides the Nursing Director with high quality and authoritative advice and support.

You will need:

  • Demonstrated ability to provide contemporary nursing leadership in a complex environment; knowledge of national and State health issues and reform agendas; and a track record in achievement of outcomes in areas of responsibility.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and application of current nursing issues relevant to Sub-Acute & Aged Services, together with demonstrated knowledge of legislation, standards and policies affecting clinical practice.
  • Proven ability to contribute effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary senior management team with proven experience in the management of physical, financial and human resources under a clinical service model or similar environment.

Details of appointment:

Permanent, full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing from the 16 August 2025.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Classification: Grade 8 Level 4

Salary: $149,807 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type

Eligibility:

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse
