
The Team:
The Jack Jumper Allergy Program, based at the Royal Hobart Hospital, is a unique and nationally significant initiative. It is the only manufacturer of Jack Jumper Ant Venom Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) in Australia, providing life-saving treatment for individuals allergic to the venom of the Jack Jumper Ant (Myrmecia pilosula)
The program is supported by a diverse and collaborative multidisciplinary team that includes:
- Medical Scientists
- Pharmacists
- Technicians
- Medical Staff
This team works closely to ensure the safe and effective production of venom immunotherapy products and the delivery of clinical care.
The Role:
Perform quality control assays relating to the production of Jack Jumper ant venom products according to the Code of Good Manufacturing Practice for Active Pharmaceutical ingredients.
Participate in continuing development and research related to the Jack Jumper Allergy Program and contribute to quality improvement activities.
You will need:
- Participate in research activities associated with allergy to the sting of the Jack Jumper ant.
- Perform quality control assays for Jack Jumper Venom products including Protein Content, ELISA, SDS-PAGE, HPLC-UV and Immunoblot assays. Assays performed are in support of the quality control process for Jack Jumper ant venom extracts.
- Record, interpret and report on laboratory results, ensuring all result and process verification procedures are complied with.

Details of appointment:
Permanent part time, day worker position, working 30.4 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $73,834 to $111,364 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No. 2 of 2022.

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 per annum
