Personal Care Assistant

As a Personal care assistant (PCA) at Lyell House on the West Coast, your work will have a tangible impact every day. Your Role as PCA will be to encourage and maintain the standard of activities of living for the residents of Lyell House. Your ability to communication and use of interpersonal skills will be essential in building strong working relationships with residents, their families and staff.
You will support the Registered Nurse (RN) in delivering high quality care and service, ensuring dignity and care are at the forefront of our service. You will be supported by a Clinical nurse consultant (CNC), the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM), RN's and other PCA's.
Lyell House is part of the West Coast District Hospital that houses a variety of different services to support Queenstown and the surrounding communities. This includes Emergency Care, an inpatient ward, and visiting services such as Radiology, Diabetic Clinics, Physiotherapy, and Podiatry. The Role:
- Assist in areas of personal grooming and hygiene, as outlined by the individual resident care plan. This includes toileting, shaving, hair washing, teeth and denture care, dressing and undressing requirements, nutrition, hydration, and assisting with meals.
- Supervise and assist with client transfers and mobility.
- Maintain accurate records including assessments, tick sheets, time sheets, leave requests and statistical data.
- Assist clients with prescribed physiotherapy, exercise activity and diversional therapy programs.
- Establish effective relationships with clients, their families/carers, and other health care professionals.
- Assist with environmental care activities by maintaining a safe environment and ensuring consumables are available.
- Accompany clients to medical or allied health appointments as required and assist clients in making appointments as required.
You will need:
- Take due care of property and equipment and maintain a high standard of personal and environmental hygiene at all times.
- Participate in self-development activities.
- Be aware and respectful of the Charter of Rights and Responsibilities.

Details of appointments:
Multiple permanent full time and part time, shift worker (fully rotational) positions, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing from a mutually agreed upon date.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary: $63,110 to $66,049 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022
