Job description:

Child &Youth Mental Health Service (CYMHS) Northwest (NW) is a tertiary Statewide Mental Health Service, providing mental health care to children and young people (under 18 years), and their families, living in the Northwest Tasmania who have a severe, complex or acute mental illness. CYMHS practice within a multi-disciplinary framework to provide assessments and a wholistic approach to treatment planning tailored to meet the individual needs of the child, young person and their family.

The Team:

Child &Youth Mental Health Service (CYMHS) Northwest (NW) is a tertiary Statewide Mental Health Service, providing mental health care to children and young people (under 18 years), and their families, living in the Northwest Tasmania who have a severe, complex or acute mental illness. CYMHS practice within a multi-disciplinary framework to provide assessments and a wholistic approach to treatment planning tailored to meet the individual needs of the child, young person and their family.

The Role:

As part of a CYMHS multi-disciplinary team delivering high quality mental health services in accordance with the Mental Health Services Strategic Plan, Statewide and Mental Health principles, National Mental Health Standards, Agency policy, legal requirements and relevant professional competencies, the Allied Health Professional will:

  • Undertake the delivery of quality client care services utilising evidence-based best practice and recovery principles within a collaborative and multi-disciplinary framework.
  • Provide assessment, treatment and assertive case management to clients of CYMHS and their families or carers in relation to mental health issues and in accordance with discipline specific skills, abilities and experience.
  • Promotes community awareness in relation to mental health and can liaise with other Agencies regarding the support and management of clients with mental health needs.

You will need:

  1. Contemporary knowledge and experience of child and youth mental health service care principles including statutory requirements, assessment, risk assessment, safety planning and the ability to implement this in the practice setting.
  2. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the theoretical and practical application of a range of therapeutic interventions relevant to CYMHS, with the ability to acquire further expertise into the future.
  3. Possession of a sound level of interpersonal skills with the ability to consult, liaise, negotiate, provide training and work co-operatively within the framework of a multi-disciplinary team, and the broader service system.

Details of appointment:

Permanent, full time, day worker position, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible. 

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: Allied Health Professional Level 1-2 

$73,834 to $111,364 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No.2 of 2022

Salary Packaging:

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible. 

The following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available: 

  • Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 per annum

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Satisfactory completion of an appropriate allied health professional course of study at a recognised tertiary institution and registered with the relevant Board or, in the case of unregulated professions, eligible for membership of the relevant professional association.
  • Current Working with Children Registration.

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

  • Post graduate experience in an area relevant to the role.
  • Postgraduate qualification or working towards a postgraduate qualification relevant to the role.
  • Current Driver’s Licence
