Job description:

The Paramedic Educator position is a full-time, rotational shift-worker role located in Hobart, within the Southern Regional Training Unit. This unit forms part of the Education and Clinical Support branch under Clinical Services, with direct reporting to the Senior Manager of Education and Clinical Support.

The Team:

The Paramedic Educator position is a full-time, rotational shift-worker role located in Hobart, within the Southern Regional Training Unit. This unit forms part of the Education and Clinical Support branch under Clinical Services, with direct reporting to the Senior Manager of Education and Clinical Support.

As a member of a dynamic, statewide education team, the successful applicant will play a key role in supporting the development and delivery of high-quality training programs for Volunteer Ambulance Officers in the Southern Region. The team works collaboratively across regions to ensure consistent, evidence-based education that enhances clinical capability and supports safe, effective care in Tasmania’s communities.

This position also offers opportunities to contribute to broader Regional Training Unit activities and emerging statewide initiatives. It is ideally suited to aspiring clinical leaders seeking professional growth while making a meaningful impact through education and clinical support for paramedics and volunteers.

The Education and Clinical Support branch is integral to the Department of Health’s commitment to building a skilled, responsive, and community-focused health workforce. Through its training programs, the team helps ensure that frontline responders are well-prepared to deliver high-quality care across Tasmania.

The Role:

Working in the Regional Training Unit (RTU), assist and support ambulance service operational personnel, including Interns, Volunteer Ambulance Officers (VAOs) and Paramedics to achieve and maintain the required standard of qualification and efficiency.

You will need:

  • Support the training needs of VAOs and Paramedics, by working within the RTU to plan, deliver and coordinate training programs.
  • Implement appropriate evaluation tools to measure the quality of training provided to volunteer ambulance units for training services. Provide routine reports on training and attendance, including compliance with minimum standards.
  • Utilise current competency standards and undertake individual assessments of Paramedics and VAOs. Provide direct feedback and undertake task specific training as required.
  • Review and evaluate the performance of ambulance practitioners, including volunteers and recommend accreditation or achievement of learner competency.

Details of appointment:

Permanent full time shift worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $139,680 to $141,062 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Ambulance Tasmania Agreement 2022.

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Bachelor of Paramedic Science and relevant work experience or other qualification approved by the Service
  • Additional qualification in training and assessment or equivalent as determine by the Service
  • Registered with the Paramedicine Board of Australia
  • Current Driver’s Licence

It is the employee’s responsibility to ensure that registration/licences remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change.
