Job description:

Exciting opportunity for a Clinical Nurse Consultant to join the Department of Health!

The Team:

We are a dedicated team within the Department of Health (DOH) focused on improving the safety and quality of Tasmania’s publicly funded health services.

We work to strengthen the healthcare system by:

  1. Improving systems and processes to support continuous learning and prevent harm.
  2. Responding to safety signals and insights to ensure timely action.
  3. Establishing consistent safety measures and data standards across the health system.

The Role:

The role coordinates and leads system-wide improvements and provides clinical leadership and expertise to drive system-wide improvements in healthcare safety and quality. It involves leading and supporting improvement initiatives, building capability through education and coaching, engaging stakeholders, and using data to inform and evaluate progress. The role also contributes to safety systems and may take on additional duties aligned with its scope and experience.

You will need:

  1. Strong knowledge and practical experience in quality improvement, change management, or improvement science.
  2. Proven ability to lead projects and deliver outcomes within set timeframes.
  3. Strategic thinking with a systems-based approach to problem-solving.
  4. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to influence and engage diverse stakeholders.
  5. Understanding of healthcare policies, legal requirements, and clinical governance.
  6. Proficiency in data analysis and report writing.
  7. High-level organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities under pressure.

Details of appointment:

Permanent, full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $114,851 to $121,886 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10 % based on qualification type

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

  • Current Driver’s Licence

  • Understanding of health systems and health system policy

  • Degree or related experience in data analysis or health policy
