Job description:

An exciting opportunity exists for a highly self-motivated Nurse Practitioner to join the Child and Youth Mental Health Service team

The Team:

The Perinatal and Infant Mental Health Service provides a tertiary level antenatal and postnatal mental health service for women and infants in the south of the state. Services include triage and assessment, psychological support, medication management, in-reach to the hospital, and outpatient clinics delivered within a multi-disciplinary environment. 

The Role:

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is responsible, within the defined scope of practice, for high level clinical leadership in the development, provision, and evaluation of Child and Youth Mental Health Service (CYMHS) – Early Years that ensures optimal outcomes to consumers, their infants, carers, stakeholders and the community.

The NP draws upon their professional competencies to improve clinical service outcomes through effective research and quality improvement activities, and actively participates statewide and nationally, in relevant research, publication and education. The NP is responsible as leader, advisor and mentor for the other nurses and clinicians to ensure high level clinical excellence in CYMHS.

You will need

  • As an endorsed Nurse Practitioner, demonstrate extensive clinical experience and advanced clinical competencies, together with extensive experience working in a senior capacity delivering services in an Early Years Mental Health environment.
  • Demonstrated and advanced holistic nursing expertise in clinical judgement in assessment and management of acute risk for vulnerable families, including high level knowledge and practical application of Tasmanian Legislation and Frameworks.
  • Demonstrated problem solving, conceptual and analytical skills with the ability to make independent or collaborative judgements.

Details of appointment:

Fixed term, part time, day worker position, working up to 38 hours per fortnight, as soon as possible for approximately twelve (12) months. 

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $144,146 per annum (pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available: 

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 7.5% based on qualification type

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and endorsed to practice as a Nurse Practitioner
  • Current Working with Children Registration

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

  • Current Driver’s Licence
  • Experience working with parents and infants in the early years (0-4) period
  • Formal training in individual and group clinical supervision
  • Formal training in brief or longer-term psychotherapies
