Job description:

The Rehabilitation Service Unit at the Mersey Community Hospital are seeking a dedicated Associate Nurse Unit Manager to join their team

The Team:

The Rehabilitation Services Unit at the Mersey Community Hospital is a dedicated 12-bed sub-acute facility committed to delivering exceptional rehabilitation care to patients across the North-West region.

The Rehabilitation Service Unit consists of a highly skilled and knowledgeable multidisciplinary team, dedicated to enhancing our patients functional and cognitive abilities to enhance their independence and improve quality of life post injury or illness. We use an individualised patient centred approach that aims to meet the goals and outcomes mutually identified by the individual, their family, and therapy staff.

The Role:

The Rehabilitation Service Unit at the Mersey Community Hospital are seeking a dedicated Associate Nurse Unit Manager to join their team

As an Associate Nurse Unit Manager on the Rehabilitation Service Unit, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing clinical and administrative management on a shift-by-shift basis to ensure business continuity within the Rehabilitation Service Unit. This may include performance, financial, rostering, and staffing management as delegated by the Nurse Unit Manger
  • Promoting a patient focused model of care, coordinating the flow of patient/client care delivery
  • Providing clinical leadership and clear direction to staff so that all have a clear understanding of their responsibilities and duties in relation to their patients/clients and colleagues.
  • Being accountable for own practice standards and acts as a role model and mentor for all staff and encourages and supports staff to develop their skills and knowledge.
  • Identifying, defining and developing recommendations to implement the delivery of complex care needs for patients/clients. including supporting the development of new operational guidelines or clinical practices and monitoring and evaluating clinical outcome measures.

Details of appointment:

Fixed term, part time, shift worker position, working up to 48 hours per fortnight, commencing from 12 August 2025 until 30 June 2027. 

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $106,570 to $112,440 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
  • Access to the Grade 4 salary range $99,455- $105,995 is subject to successful application for progression to Grade 4

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type

Salary Packaging:

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria 

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse

  • Holds, or is working towards, relevant postgraduate qualifications
