
The Team:
The Strategic Communications and Media team (Comms) is responsible for managing the Department’s corporate image, media relations, public profile and internal and external communication channels (including social media).
The role of Comms is to ensure the voices of the Department and the Secretary are heard, that Departmental projects are visible, and that Departmental communications are effective.
This includes providing overarching strategic guidance and advice, managing all media, public relations, and social media activities, and ensuring consistency and alignment with the Department’s strategic aims, goals, and priorities.
The Role:
The Digital Communications Officer will work with others to develop and deliver digital communications strategies and output for the Department of Health (DoH) and manage the creation of digital communications material in a variety of forms and for use across various platforms.
The Digital Communications Officer will also support and improve DoH communications and stakeholder engagement activities using digital media across a variety of platforms in line with DoH strategic plans and priorities.
Demonstrated experience of creating, coordinating, and producing communications collateral, including both printed and digital materials is required.
Applicants should have a working knowledge of graphic design software applications and possess the ability to populate and adjust collateral including templates using a range of applications, including Adobe Cloud, InDesign, Microsoft Word, Illustrator and Photoshop.
Experience of producing and editing audio visual media, including photography and video content is desirable as is a working knowledge of open-source web platforms such as Drupal.

You will need to
- Work with the Comms team to develop and deliver digital communications and engagement collateral, outputs and strategies for the Department of Health.
- Provide advice on the delivery of effective, professional, and innovative digital marketing and communications strategies, activities, and tools.
- Produce and publish a range of digital communications and multimedia materials for use across DoH ensuring they meet agency and government policies and procedures.
- Develop and manage DoH social media content (paid and organic) across multiple platforms as well as content for the Department’s internal and external web-based platforms.

Details of appointment:
Permanent full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $98,255 to $103,069 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022.
