
The Team:
The Reception Team in Medical Imaging at the Department of Health Tasmania, particularly within facilities like the Royal Hobart Hospital, plays a vital role in supporting the delivery of diagnostic services. This team is responsible for managing patient interactions, coordinating appointments, handling referrals, and ensuring smooth communication between patients, radiographers, and clinical staff.
Led by the Team Leader – Reception, the group ensures that front-of-house operations run efficiently and compassionately. Their work is essential in maintaining the flow of medical imaging services, which include X-rays, CT scans, MRIs, and ultrasounds provided across major hospitals such as the Launceston General Hospital and Royal Hobart Hospital.
The reception team operates within a broader organisational framework that emphasizes patient-centred care, professional collaboration, and service excellence. They are part of a system that supports both inpatient and outpatient imaging needs, working closely with referring clinicians and allied health professionals.
The Role:
The Team Leader has immediate oversight of the appropriate management of the day to day running of the reception area of Medical Imaging.
You will need to:
- Undertake a coordination and supervisory role by overseeing the day-to-day delivery of all aspects of administrative and clerical service functions, including the reception, patient coordination, billing, and clinical information.
- Provide input into improving processes for the management of inpatients and outpatients in the Department of Medical Imaging (DMI) and associated information. Undertake implementation of new processes for the management of inpatients and outpatients in DMI and associated information.
- Provide support to the Executive Officer and update processes to ensure that patient coordination and billing activities are optimised.

Details of appointment:
Permanent full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $73,811 to $79,779 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022.
