Job description:

Operate within a rehabilitation framework to assist in the improvement of the functional performance of individuals in inpatient, outpatient, and community settings. To decrease the dependence of individuals on others and prepare families, friends, and carers to support clients to achieve their functional performance goals. Under the direction and supervision of the Rehabilitation Team, assist with the provision of an integrated and coordinated Rehabilitation Services to the people of North West Tasmania.

The Team:

  • The Rehabilitation Services Unit at the Mersey Community Hospital is a dedicated 12-bed sub-acute facility committed to delivering exceptional rehabilitation care to patients across the North-West region.
  • The Rehabilitation Service Unit consists of a highly skilled and knowledgeable multidisciplinary team, dedicated to enhancing our patients functional and cognitive abilities to enhance their independence and improve quality of life post injury or illness. We use an individualised patient centred approach that aims to meet the goals and outcomes mutually identified by the individual, their family, and therapy staff.

The Role:

As a Rehabilitation Assistant on the Rehabilitation Unit your duties will include:

  • Assist in the planning and implementation of rehabilitation programs for referred patients under the broad direction of Rehabilitation Nurses and Allied Health Professionals as well as evaluation of patient progress, communication of treatment outcomes to the team and where necessary documentation in the patient’s medical progress notes.
  • Assist the Rehabilitation Team with preparation for and treatment of patients including transportation of patients to and from treatment areas and home assessments as required.
  • Under the direction and supervision of Rehabilitation Nurses and Allied Health Professionals, apply a range of skills and techniques with clients to support cross disciplinary teams working to meet clients’ rehabilitation needs.
  • Set up, construct, repair or adapt patient aids as directed by the therapist.
  • Assist staff with quality improvement activities as required.
  • Cleaning of rehabilitation resources including but not limited to; therapy mats, treatment media, and splinting equipment.

  • A strong commitment to patient advocacy and safety
  • The ability to adapt effectively within high demand, busy environments

Details of appointment:

Permanent, part time, shift worker position, working 64 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as you can join us.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary: $67,193 to $72,126 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022

Eligibility:
