The Team:
Oral Health Services Tasmania (OHST) is the public oral health care provider in Tasmania and operates as a statewide service. All Tasmanian children aged 0 to 17 years and all Tasmanian adults holding a Health Care Card or Pension Concession Card are eligible for care from OHST.
OHST is a team of approximately 300 people including dentists, oral health therapists, dental prosthetists, technicians, dental assistants and administrative staff. Care is provided from 33 clinics around Tasmania. Adult services are predominantly provided from 6 major dental centres located in Hobart (New Town), Clarence, Glenorchy, Launceston, Devonport and Burnie as well as the 3 Special Care Dental Units (located within hospital precincts). Child and Adolescent Services are provided predominantly from 23 community clinics which are either located in a community health centre or are a stand-alone clinic.

The Role:
The Senior Dental/Oral Health Therapist is responsible for assisting the Area Manager with the overall organisation, coordination and management of services delivered by Dental/Oral Health Therapists. Provide clinical services and clinical leadership in accordance with organisational policies and professional codes of conduct, including direct leadership and support for the Dental/Oral Health Therapist team. Provide advice and assistance to the relevant Area Manager, the Clinical Director, and other staff in relation to novel, complex and critical aspects of dental and oral health therapy practices. Participate as a member of both the area management team and relevant statewide committees to contribute and support service delivery directions, policies, guidelines, and priorities for Oral Health Services Tasmania (OHST) in general and children’s dental services in particular, and including, relevant workforce initiatives.
You will need:
- Demonstrated extensive clinical practice experience as a senior professional practitioner, together with a broad understanding of contemporary oral health service delivery issues relating to the provision of dental and oral health therapy services.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise a high level of independent professional judgement in the resolution of more complex, novel, or critical problems/issues and the ability to provide authoritative technical or policy advice which draws on in-depth knowledge of contemporary dental/oral health therapy practice.
- Understanding of human and financial management, together with the ability to contribute to the development and implementation of strategies that monitor service delivery effectiveness and efficiency.

Details of appointment:
Permanent full time day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $123,717 to $134,336 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No. 2 of 2022

- Please note that access to salaries beyond $130,900 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme
