Job description:

Responsible for the day to day management of private and public inpatients and outpatients within the Hospital. Provide after hours emergency cover at the hospital as determined by the Medical Staffing Unit.

About the Role and Team:

The Department of Health are seeking motivated and experienced Medical Practitioners to work as part of the Department of Emergency Medicine across Tasmania’s North West Region. Servicing a population of approximately 116,000, the Registrar – Emergency Medicine provides emergency medical care to patients attending the Department of Emergency Medicine at the North West Regional Hospital (NWRH).

The North West Regional Hospital (NWRH) is a modern facility that provides acute care facilities for residents of the North West region of Tasmania. It is a University Teaching Hospital for the Rural Clinical School of the University of Tasmania.

Details of Appointment

Fixed term full time, shift-worker position working 76 hours per fortnight with 10 hours paid education time that includes a structured education day rostered every 4 weeks and self-directed learning in the second fortnight of the month. 

Commencing as soon as possible until 31 January 2027.

*notwithstanding hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant

  • Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies.

Salary:

Medical Practitioner Level 5 - 11 $134.930 - $189,500per annum + 12% superannuation + access to salary packaging 

  • Salary range is in accordance with Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

  1. General or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia 

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:
