Statewide Hospital Pharmacy operates Pharmacy services at the Launceston General Hospital (LGH). The LGH is Tasmania’s second largest hospital and the major referral centre for Northern Tasmania. It provides inpatient and ambulatory services to Launceston the surrounding areas and has 349 inpatient beds onsite. The Role:
Work as a part of the relevant LGH’s Pharmacy Department and Pharmacy Team to provide a comprehensive, efficient, and accountable pharmacy service for hospital inpatients and outpatients.
Pharmacists in this service:
- Dispense medications for inpatient, outpatient, and discharge supply, in accordance with all legal requirements, and work within the parameters of the various medication access schemes available in public hospitals including the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme, the Special Access Scheme, Section 100, Clinical Trials, and Early Access Schemes.
- Routinely offer verbal and written medicines information and other supporting health advice to patients.
- Provide information on medications to hospital staff and contribute to the development of their knowledge of medication related issues.
- Rotate through areas of the health service, including Dispensary, emergency care, surgical and medical inpatients, rehabilitation and sub-acute care, oncology, and remote care.
- Have access to ongoing professional development and the opportunity to complete the AdPha Residency Program

Details of appointment:
Multiple permanent full time and part time, shift worker position, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $73,834 to $111,364 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022.
Salary Packaging:
You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible
Allowances:
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- A market allowance of $10,000 per annum pro rata is applicable to this role
Benefits available to eligible candidates:
- Travel and relocation assistance support available up to $15,000 for eligible appointees from overseas, and up to $10,000 for appointees from interstate.
