
The Team:
The Child Health and Parenting Service (CHaPS) delivers primary child and family health services to Tasmanian families with children under 5. CHaPS is a statewide nursing led healthcare service, with both nursing and allied health clinical staff, supported by a wide range of administrative roles. The CHaPS Quality and Safety team is a small enthusiastic team of Clinical Nurse Consultants, supported by an Assistant Director of Nursing. This team works as part of CHaPS leadership to report and advice on all quality and safety related matters.
The Role:
The Clinical Nurse Consultant -Quality and Safety works as part of the CHaPS Quality and Safety team to co-ordinate delivery of functions supporting clinical care. This includes advising CHaPS leadership on safety event management and infection prevention and control, co-ordinating consumer feedback and auditing programs, assessing and reporting on service gaps and proposing quality improvements, as well as assisting other staff to perform quality improvement processes. This role also works closely with Quality and Safety related teams across the Department of Health to co-ordinate and advise on delivery of priority actions.
You will need:
- Broad clinical and operational experience within a complex health care environment including primary health services; with a demonstrated understanding of patient safety.
- Extensive knowledge of and commitment to continuous quality improvement and accreditation processes including risk management, undertaking investigations, National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards and other accreditation activities.
- Demonstrated high level interpersonal, communication, mediation, and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders with a demonstrated ability to influence and motivate staff.

Details of appointment:
Permanent, part time, day worker position, working 30.4 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $114,851 to $121,886 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10 % based on qualification type
