The Team

Come join our wonderful Mental Health Inpatient team at the Royal Hobart Hospital, where your skills as an Occupational Therapy Assistant will make a real difference every day. The Role

In accordance with mental health care standards, agency policy and direction, legal and ethical requirements and professional competencies, assist in the provision of specialist rehabilitation services based on best practice principles and within a collaborative and multidisciplinary framework.

Under supervision, participate in the referral and assessment process and contribute to care plans assigned to meet the needs of clients.

Participate in ongoing personal development by taking part in relevant training courses and ongoing education as identified in professional development reviews.

You will need

  1. Demonstrated capacity to work with people with mental illness and knowledge of client rehabilitation needs, client centred practice and the need to establish an environment of support.
  2. Knowledge of resources and services available to support people with mental illness in the broader community, or the ability to quickly acquire this knowledge.
  3. Demonstrated understanding of the principles of maintaining appropriate therapeutic relationships with clients.
  4. Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary setting.

Details of appointment

Permanent, part time, day worker position, working 38 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible. 

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary

$70,033 to $75,114 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2025

Eligibility

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Current Driver’s Licence

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

  • Certificate IV in Community Services, Aged Care or Disability or
  • Certificate IV in Mental Health
