Job description:

Looking for a Staff Specialist to join our team and lead innovative Hospital in the Home care, bringing specialist expertise directly to where patients feel most supported.

An exciting opportunity presents itself for YOU to join the talented team of health professionals and support staff within the newly created 24/7 Hospital in the Home North service.

Hospital in The Home’s sole purpose is to provide exceptional hospital level health care and ongoing support to the residents of Northern Tasmania to negate the need for hospitalisation in our mainstream facility and enable patients to remain in their own home and community under the watchful/vigilant eye of a dedicated health team. 

We currently have opportunities for suitably qualified and experienced Medical Staff Specialists wanting to work on a flexible casual basis with the service.

The role:

  • Will provide specialist clinical assessment and management of patients in the community setting including rapid interventions for acute health issues and chronic exacerbations, preventing unnecessary hospital admissions.
  • Supports the efficient and effective provision of care, based on clinical standards and best practice principles within a collaborative and multidisciplinary framework to support individuals with acute care needs in the community whilst working across a multi-disciplinary work environment.
  • Promote and participate in the development and delivery of best practice hospital in the home medical services in the north of Tasmania, including involvement in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and active involvement in research.
  • Travel across the North to provide services as required and in accordance with a HiTH model of care.
  • Will be required to participate in an after-hours work and an on-call roster.

Details of appointment:

Fixed term, casual, position working as and when required, commencing as soon as possible for approximately twelve (12) months.

Salary:

Specialist Medical Practitioners 

Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1- Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 3 $216,300 - $310,389 per annum, pro rata + 12% superannuation + access to salary packaging 

Please note that access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range $300,216 -$310,389 is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1, 2 or 3 as outlined in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award

  • Salary range is in accordance with Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022

In addition, the following allowances and benefit, calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Salary packaging options include a range of benefits like living expenses up to $9,010 and $2,650 in meals and entertainment every year.
  • Participation in Private Practice Scheme 35% or allowance in lieu of private practice schemes 35%
  • Subject to approval from the Private Patient Scheme Committee (PPS), 35% of base salary plus on-call, pro rata) of additional payment will be paid from (PPS). If not admitted to the PPS, a 35% in lieu of PPS of base salary will be paid.
  • Continuing Professional Development Allowance of $16,974 per annum, pro rata
  • Fitness Passport – You, and your family can access 40+ fitness facilities across Tasmania for just $14.50 per week per person, or $28.05 for a family.
  • Other allowances as per the Award.

Eligibility:

Eligibility: Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria as

  • Specialist or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia in a relevant specialty.

  • Current Working with Children Registration (where applicable and as determined by individual position requirements)

  • Current Driver’s Licence

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

  • Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians;
  • Fellowship of the Australasian College Emergency Medicine;
  • Fellowship of the Australian College of General Practitioners; or
  • Fellowship of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine.
