Job description:

The North West Regional Hospital Emergency Department is a dynamic, high-acuity environment where no two days are the same.

The Team:

Our Emergency Department at North West Regional Hospital is a dynamic, high-acuity environment where no two days are the same. We manage approximately 80–100 presentations daily, ranging from minor injuries to critically unwell patients and major trauma. The department includes 14 acute treatment spaces, two resuscitation/trauma bays, an ambulatory care area, and an Emergency Short Stay Unit.

You’ll be part of a multidisciplinary and diverse team of skilled clinicians who work collaboratively to deliver timely, evidence-based care to both adult and paediatric patients. Our team thrives in a fast-paced setting, supported by hospital specialties. Together, we are committed to providing exceptional emergency care to the North-West Tasmanian community.

The Role:

As an Enrolled Nurse in our Emergency Department, you will:

  • Deliver safe, quality, and clinically appropriate nursing care under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse.
  • Assist with patient monitoring, documentation, and care delivery in a high-acuity environment.
  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure timely and effective patient care.
  • Support patients and families during what can be a challenging and stressful time.

You will need:

  • Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as an Enrolled Nurse.
  • Ability to maintain calm and work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Details of appointment:

Fixed term part time, shift worker position, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible until 20 June 2026.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $73,109 to $80,524 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 7.5% based on qualification type

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria 

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as an Enrolled Nurse (holds a Board-approved qualification in administration of medicines)
