Job description:

Our Emergency Department at North West Regional Hospital is a dynamic, high-acuity environment where no two days are the same

The Team:

Our Emergency Department at North West Regional Hospital is a dynamic, high-acuity environment where no two days are the same. We manage approximately 80–100 presentations daily, ranging from minor injuries to critically unwell patients and major trauma. The department includes 14 acute treatment spaces, two resuscitation/trauma bays, an ambulatory care area, and an Emergency Short Stay Unit.

You’ll be part of a multidisciplinary and diverse team of skilled clinicians who work collaboratively to deliver timely, evidence-based care to both adult and paediatric patients. Our team thrives in a fast-paced setting, supported by hospital specialties. Together, we are committed to providing exceptional emergency care to the North-West Tasmanian community.

The Role:

As a Registered Nurse in our Emergency Department, you will:

  • Strengthen health outcomes through the provision of safe, quality, and clinically appropriate nursing care in partnership with patients, families, and other health professionals.
  • Respond to a wide range of emergency presentations, including trauma and critical illness.
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team in a high-acuity environment.

You will need

  • Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as an RN in an Emergency Department.
  • Experience in resuscitation, including the use of ventilators.
  • Hold or be working towards ATS triage accreditation.
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills, with the ability to prioritise in a fast-paced setting.

Details of appointment:

Fixed term, full time or part time, shift worker position, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible until 20 June 2026.

Fixed term, casual, shift worker position, working as and when required, commencing as soon as possible until 20 June 2026.

Salary: $80,524 to $109,175 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
  • Access to the Grade 4 salary range $102,295 - $109,175 is subject to successful application for progression to Grade 4

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type
