Job description:

Support meal prep and delivery in a small kitchen team providing safe, hygienic food services for aged‑care, rural health, and urgent care clients.

The Team:

The Cook (Non-Trade) role is embedded within the kitchen team at the Midlands Multi‑Purpose Health Centre in Oatlands, Tasmania—about an hour north of Hobart. This small, close-knit crew supports an 18‑bed aged-care unit, four rural health beds, and an urgent care centre. Together, they ensure meals are prepared and delivered safely and hygienically, meeting each patient’s and community client’s dietary needs in line with the Food Safety Plan and Continuous Quality Improvement standards.

The Role:

  • Provide meals of a high standard to patients, residents, community clients and staff.
  • Ensure individualised dietary needs are provided.
  • Ensure all meal preparation and meal delivery meets the standards set out in the Food Safety Plan.
  • Monitor the use and storage of food, perishable goods and other consumables in accordance with the standards set out in the Food Safety Plan.

You will need to:

  • Ensure a high standard of food preparation and presentation for patients, resident and staff meals.
  • Prepare meals as set out in the rotating menu and ensure the timely delivery of meals. 
  • Interact effectively with the clinical care staff, patients/residents/clients and other healthcare team members to facilitate the provision of optimum meals service.

Details of appointment:

Fixed term casual shift worker position, working as and when required commencing 1 February 2026 until 31 January 2027.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $63,110 to $66,049 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022.
