
The Team:
Oral Health Services Tasmania (OHST) is the public oral health care provider in Tasmania and operates as a statewide service. All Tasmanian children aged 0 to 17 years and all Tasmanian adults holding a Health Care Card or Pension Concession Card are eligible for care from OHST.
OHST is a team of approximately 300 people including dentists, oral health therapists, dental prosthetists, technicians, dental assistants and administrative staff. Care is provided from 33 clinics around Tasmania. Adult services are predominantly provided from 6 major dental centres located in Hobart (New Town), Clarence, Glenorchy, Launceston, Devonport and Burnie as well as the 3 Special Care Dental Units (located within hospital precincts). Child and Adolescent Services are provided predominantly from 23 community clinics which are either located in a community health centre or are a stand-alone clinic.
The Role:
As the Manager, Quality and Patient Safety for OHST, you will be responsible for managing and leading the Quality and Patient Safety Unit and fostering a collaborative and high performing team environment to deliver strategic and operational objectives. Your main tasks will include:
- Provide high level leadership and direction in the development, implementation and evaluation of appropriate quality and patient safety improvement programs and strategies for OHST.
- Provide high-level consultative advice on a broad range of issues relating to quality and patient safety, including the development of strategic policy, planning, service development and performance reporting.
- Be responsible for ensuring the principles of patient safety and continuous quality improvement are applied in the delivery of OHST services across the State.
- Develop and manage OHST’s incident management and consumer feedback processes and systems, including associated monitoring, reporting and improvement activities.
- Represent OHST at meetings with internal and external stakeholders on quality improvement and infection control activities.
- Act as a resource and mentor to other staff employed throughout the service who are involved in the development and implementation of quality, patient safety and infection control strategies.
You will need:
- Extensive knowledge of relevant legislation and National Standards and demonstrated experience in continuous quality improvement and patient safety issues within a health services delivery framework.
- Demonstrated skills and experience in undertaking high level policy development and evaluation and providing consultative advice to a senior management audience.
- High level management skills, including strategic, conceptual, analytical and creative skills, together with demonstrated leadership and team management experience. Proven capacity to understand and make sound judgements about the political, social and organisational environment impacting on health services delivery within OHST.

Details of appointment:
Permanent full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary: $128,102 to $134,832 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
