- Wombat Ward is a 16-bed paediatric level 3 inpatient unit caring for general, surgical, orthopaedic and mental health paediatric patients aged 0-17 years of age across the northwest coast of Tasmania. The paediatric team works closely as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver excellence in healthcare and achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce, and the Tasmanian Community
What You'll Do
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care across various hospital departments
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Lead and co-ordinate shift as rostered.
- Support patients and families through their healthcare journey
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and records
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and evidence-based practice
- Mentor junior staff and nursing students
What We're Looking For
- Current knowledge of, and the ability to apply nursing principles, procedures and practices in the delivery of patient/client care in a designated practice area and in line with legal requirements and the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Board (NMBA) Registered Nurse standards for practice
- Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Commitment to patient-centred care and safety
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Flexibility to work across different shifts and departments
- Post-graduate qualifications in Paediatric Nursing (desirable).

Details of appointment:
- Fixed term part time, shift worker position, working up to 48 hours per fortnight, 8th February 2026 until 6th February 2027
- Fixed term part time, shift worker position, working up to 56 hours per fortnight, 2nd February 2026, until 3rd August 2026
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $109,767 to $115,813 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10 % based on qualification type
