The Team:
Royal Hobart Hospital is Tasmania’s largest hospital, and the Pathology South team provides phlebotomy and specimen collection services in the outpatient setting at Wellington Clinic and satellite collection centres at Glenorchy, Kingston and Rosny. The service also supports inpatients areas at the RHH. As the major clinical teaching and research centre, RHH works closely with the University of Tasmania and other institutions. All our services work closely together to focus on delivering excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce, and the Tasmanian community.
The Role:
Pathology South is seeking Registered Nurses with well-developed phlebotomy and specimen collection skills to join our team. The role requires well developed communication, prioritisation and teamwork skills and is patient and consumer focused. The role works across the hospital and outpatient clinic. This is a shiftwork position with the service operating Monday-Friday 0800-1700 and weekends 0800-1300.
You will need:
- Current knowledge of, and the ability to apply nursing principles, procedures and practices in the delivery of contemporary phlebotomy and specimen collection, within Pathology South, and in line with legal requirements and the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Board (NMBA) Registered Nurse standards for practice.
- High level interpersonal skills, including the ability to liaise with patients/clients and families sensitively and empathetically and communicate effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Demonstrate the ability to work autonomously within a team, while providing support for phlebotomy technicians, working in an environment subject to work pressure and change.
- Ability to undertake patient/client education in the practice setting, together with a commitment to participate in ongoing professional development.

Details of appointment:
Permanent, part time, shift worker position, working 41 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary: $80,524 to $109,175 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
Access to the Grade 4 salary range $102,439- $109,175 is subject to successful application for progression to Grade 4
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10 % based on qualification type
