
The Team
Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH) is Tasmania’s largest hospital, and the Department of Medical Imaging provides diagnostic imaging services to all of Southern Tasmania. Our service supports inpatient units, outpatient clinics and the Emergency Department, delivering care across a full range of imaging modalities.

The Role
As a Radiographer, you will play a key role in delivering safe, high‑quality diagnostic imaging services that support timely and accurate clinical decision‑making. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team and under the direction of senior radiography staff, you will contribute to patient‑centred care across a range of clinical settings.
This role is well suited to both newly qualified graduates and experienced Radiographers. New graduates will be supported through a structured and supportive environment, while experienced practitioners will have opportunities to consolidate and further develop their clinical skills across a broad range of imaging services and supported to undertake modality training.
Information on graduate support, supervision and development pathways
In the role of Radiographer you will:
- Perform a wide range of general and fluoroscopic imaging examinations to produce images of the highest diagnostic quality
- Applying the As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) principle when using ionising and non‑ionising radiation to ensure patient, staff and public safety
- Assess medical requests, patient condition and clinical information to ensure procedures are appropriately prepared and performed in accordance with established protocols
- Safely operate imaging equipment and associated accessories, maintaining patient dignity, comfort and welfare at all times
- Monitor and assess image quality to ensure professional standards are met, confirming correct image labelling and demographics, and ensuring timely archiving of images within PACS
- Liaise effectively with radiology colleagues, medical staff, patients and other stakeholders to support efficient service delivery and continuity of care
We are seeking applicants who bring the following skills, experience and capabilities:
- Broad knowledge of, and competence in, performing a wide range of general radiographic examinations, including fluoroscopic, mobile and theatre procedures
- Sound understanding of relevant anatomy, physiology and pathology, and the safe and effective use of radiographic equipment
- The ability to work effectively within a team environment, providing support to colleagues and contributing positively to team outcomes
- Well‑developed interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage respectfully and effectively with patients, junior staff, peers, supervisors and managers
- A commitment to patient‑centred care, professional standards and ongoing learning and development

Details of appointment:
Multiple Permanent, full time, part time, shift worker (fully rational) positions, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $73,834 to $111,364 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No. 2 of 2022
- A market allowance of $10,000 per annum pro rata is approved until 31 March 2029

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.
In addition to the above salary, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
