The Role:
Functions as an advanced clinical practitioner providing direct care, advisory support and educational services within the Operating Theatre (OT) of the Mersey Community Hospital (MCH). The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) - Flow Manager will:
- Undertake a patient flow management role within the OT, ensuring effective provision of care based on competency standards for the Advanced Registered Nurse. Service is managed within a multidisciplinary framework by coordinating clinical, management, education and nursing research related to the context of practice.
- Provide expert contemporary clinical advice and clinical leadership in nursing.
- Undertake a leadership role in ensuring that the clinical and support services meet quality and safety standards and are in accordance with Agency performance objectives and community expectations.
- Facilitate the development and maintenance of strong communication links within the hospital, and with consumers and other key groups to improve care for patients in the perioperative service.
The Hospital:
- The newly commissioned Operating Theatre complex consists of two Endoscopy, two General Theatres, Post Anaesthesia Care Unit (PACU) and a Day Surgery Unit (DSU).
- Currently functioning in two theatres each day, with an uplift to increase to three theatres in the coming months.
- The regional endoscopy theatres for the Northwest, providing surgical services for minor urology and dental procedures for the North and Northwest.

Details of appointment:
Fixed term, full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing from a mutually agreed upon date until 7 September 2026.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $118,297 to $125,543 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type

Eligibility:
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.
- Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse
Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:
- Holds, or is working towards, relevant post graduate qualifications
- Current Advanced Life Support Certificate
- Minimum five years relevant specialist experience
