The Maternity Unit, Launceston General Hospital:
- The Launceston General Hospital (LGH) is the major referral hospital in Northern Tasmania.
- As a Registered Midwife you will be part of the team that delivers approximately 1,600 newborn babies each year. With a 6 bed Labour Ward, 30 bed Maternity and 9 bed Special Care Unit your work will be fast paced and very rewarding.

The Role:

Provide advanced clinical leadership and care coordination for women and their families with complex needs across the maternity continuum, delivering expert advice and supporting safe, high‑quality, woman‑centred care.

Lead and embed evidence‑based practice, quality improvement and safety, including research, change management, and the effective management of adverse events, ensuring compliance with professional, legislative and industrial standards.

Build strong multidisciplinary and statewide partnerships, delivering education and fostering collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders to improve service access, capability and outcomes for women, newborns and maternity services.

Details of appointment:
Permanent, part time, day worker position, working up to 32 hours per fortnight, commencing from a mutually agreed upon date.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $118,297 to $125,543 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type
