Job description:

The Emergency Preparedness and Response Unit (EPRU) is responsible for whole-of-Agency emergency management for the Department of Health. Under the direction of the Manager – Emergency Management and working in close partnership with the EPRU team and DoH service areas, the role will develop, deliver and evaluate training programs to equip staff across DoH with the skills and knowledge to prepare for, respond to, and recover from disaster and emergency events.

The Role

The Emergency Preparedness and Response Unit (EPRU) is responsible for whole-of-Agency emergency management for the Department of Health.

Under the direction of the Manager – Emergency Management and working in close partnership with the EPRU team and DoH service areas, the role will develop, deliver and evaluate training programs to equip staff across DoH with the skills and knowledge to prepare for, respond to, and recover from disaster and emergency events.

You will need

  1. Demonstrated expertise in designing, delivering, and evaluating training programs with a strong foundation in adult learning principles and trauma-informed practice to build workforce capability in high-risk environments.
  2. Advanced analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to develop and implement strategic training initiatives, influence organisational systems, and apply insights from training needs analysis and post-incident reviews within the political, social, and organisational environment.
  3. High level research, analytical and planning skills, including the capacity to think strategically, identify priority issues for attention and develop appropriate solutions

Details of appointment

Fixed term full time, day worker (with on call) position, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible for 12 months.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary

General Stream Band 6

$111,754 to $126,579 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2025

Eligibility

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

  • Qualifications and/or experience in:

    • adult professional learning
    • emergency management
  • Current Drivers Licence

Position Features:

  • A flexible working arrangement may be negotiated
  • In the event of a major emergency, the occupant of this position may be required to work outside normal business hours to support Department of Health (DoH) and/or broader whole-of-government emergency response
  • Regular intrastate travel is a requirement of this role
