Job description:

Join CYMHS delivering secondary mental health assessments and interventions for children 0–12 and families through Medicare Mental Health Kids Hub Tas

This position is for a Clinical Nurse Consultant - (528420). The position is also being advertised as an Allied Health Professional - Clinical Lead - (528420d). The position will be filled on a merit basis.

The Team:

CYMHS North is seeking new Medicare Mental Health Kids Hub Tasmania Clinical Nurse Specialists / Allied Health Practitioners. This role will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver secondary level mental health assessment and interventions for infants, children, and their families and caregivers, experiencing emerging complexity regarding emotional, social, relational, and behavioural functioning.

About Medicare Mental Health Kids Hub Tas:

Medicare Mental Health kids Hub Tas is an integrated secondary level mental health service for emerging complexity for the 0-12 year age group and represents an important addition to a child and family mental health stepped care model in Tasmania. This early intervention service enables families to access a range of evidence based individual and group interventions and supports for mild to moderate emotional, behavioural, social, relational, and developmental challenges. The Medicare mental Health Kids Hub Tas service works with families, and universal, secondary, and tertiary service providers, to provide integrated and holistic care. The Department for Education, Children and Young People (DECYP) is a key co-service partner.

The role will:

  • As part of the Medicare Mental Health Kids Hub North team, support the establishment and ongoing functioning of the North program
  • Undertake assessments, care planning and delivery of individual and group secondary level mental health interventions to children and families, including culturally appropriate services.
  • Develop and support collaborative care partnerships with service providers including across primary health, child health and parenting, paediatrics, child safety, education, and early childhood programs and services.
  • Collect and review client and service outcome data and participate in activities to improve client outcomes.
  • Contribute to continuing quality and safety, service development and improvement, and professional development processes and standards.

Details of appointment:

Fixed term full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible until 25 June 2027.

Salary: $118,297 to $125,543 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria 

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse and possess specialist tertiary graduate or post graduate mental health/psychiatric nursing qualification; or completed, prior to the transfer of nurse education to the tertiary sector, an accredited hospital based program that lead to registration as a psychiatric nurse by the relevant nurse regulatory authority within Australia, New Zealand, Canada or the United Kingdom.
  • Current Working with Children Registration

*Registration/licenses that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment. It is the employee’s responsibility to ensure that registration/licenses remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change. This includes notifying the Employer if a registration/license is revoked, cancelled or has its conditions altered.

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

  • A minimum of 3 years current post graduate experience in child, adolescent and/or youth mental health or relevant field
  • Training in relevant and appropriate evidence-based therapeutic interventions that are developmentally appropriate such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Family Therapy or Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Current Driver’s License.
