Job description:

Brilliant opportunity to become a part of the senior leadership team within Theatres at the Royal Hobart Hospital

The Team:

The Main Theatre team provides safe, high quality, care to patients/clients during and elective and emergency procedures and surgery.

The Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH) is the largest public hospital in the state and operates at a level 6 capability and provides acute inpatient and outpatient surgical services for the Tasmania Health Service Hospitals South (THS Hospitals South) and is the tertiary referral for complex patients from THS Hospitals North and THS Hospitals Northwest.  The RHH provides elective and emergency surgical services for the THS Hospitals South.

The Role:

  1. Leads and manages the coordination of patient care within the OTS, in accordance with best practice principles and within a collaborative multidisciplinary framework.
  2. Provides leadership in contemporary nursing practice and promotes an environment conducive to innovation and change.
  3. Manages the financial, physical and human resources of the OTS, to achieve agreed service outcomes within the allocated budget.

You will need:

  1. Individuals will demonstrate capability to promote a shared vision and purpose, and positively influence others (internally and externally) to ensure optimal client outcomes and build a culture of success, commitment and active contribution by all staff within the practice area.
  2. Individuals will demonstrate capability to make rational and sound decisions based on a consideration of the facts and alternatives available make quick decisions when required and will commit to definite courses of actions.
  3. Individuals will demonstrate capability to be focused on: understanding the business of the organisation, the business unit, and the practice area, and delivering the best care outcomes within the available resources.

Details of appointment:

Fixed term, full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible for a period of up to six (6 months).

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $134,109 to $140,384 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse
