Job description:

Casual Hospital Assistants support patient care by providing general housekeeping, cleaning, equipment maintenance, and assistance with patient movement within the hospital environment. The role supports nursing staff and helps maintain safe, clean, and hygienic wards while contributing to high‑quality patient support services across the Repatriation Centre.

The Team:

As a Casual Hospital Assistant, you will work across various units within the Peacock Building at the Repatriation Centre, performing essential operational duties and contributing to high-quality patient support services.

The Role:

  • Provide general housekeeping services to the relevant Unit.
  • Provide cleaning and maintenance of equipment and work areas in accordance with infection control guidelines.
  • Assist nursing staff in the transferring and positioning of patients by manual or mechanical means, in line with manual handling guidelines and legislation and other porterage services to patients as required.

You will need:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of, and/or experience in, food, kitchen and personal hygiene.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of, and an ability to, lift patients within manual handling guidelines and legislation.
  • Ability to provide, and/or have experience in, cleaning services in a hospital or large organisation environment with knowledge of infection control practices and guidelines.

Details of appointment:

Fixed term, casual, position working as and when required, commencing as soon as possible for approximately 12 months.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $63,110 to $66,049 pro rata per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount. Plus 25% Casual Loading - Equivalent of $39.76 to $41.62 per hour.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022.
