Job description:

Lead clinical coordination and service delivery for child and adolescent mental health, ensuring high‑quality care across the region. Support team performance, oversee key clinical processes, and work collaboratively to achieve strong outcomes for young people.

Please note this position is also being advertised as an Allied Health Professional (502814L3) and only one position will be filled on merit.

The Team

You will be part of a multidisciplinary team delivering high quality mental health services to children, young people and their families in accordance with the Statewide Mental Health Services Strategic Plan, Mental Health Service principles, National Mental Health Standards, legal requirements and relevant professional competencies, the successful CNS will:

The Role

  • Actively contribute to the clinical leadership and management of Child and Adolescent Community Mental Health team to ensure the provision of a high quality, comprehensive, specialist mental health service to children and adolescents within a specified regional area in accordance with the principles and goals specified in the Mental Health Services Strategic Plan, the associated model of care and relevant service policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Support the Team Leader by developing, monitoring and evaluating clinical outcome measures assuming a lead role in the oversight of designated clinical processes associated with the optimal operation of a Child and Adolescent Community Mental Health team, including intake, crisis response, interim support, assertive case management and general team coordination.
  • Participate in the multi-disciplinary team review of current clients, including supporting staff in the development, monitoring and evaluation of clinical outcome measures.

You will need

  • Extensive experience and demonstrated specialist level knowledge of contemporary mental health nursing and an understanding of mental health issues in relation to children, adolescents and their families, in both inpatient and community settings.
  • Proven ability to provide a range of assessments and therapeutic interventions relevant for children, adolescents and families accessing services and the ability to acquire further expertise in this area.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of other services and agencies in the context of providing specialist mental health assessment, advice, and training including the capacity to develop and maintain partnerships with a broad range of key local stakeholders.

Details of appointment

Permanent full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary

$109,767 to $115,813 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

Eligibility

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse
  • Current Working with Children Registration

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

  • Minimum of 2 years post graduate experience in an area relevant to the role
  • Postgraduate qualification or working towards a postgraduate qualification relevant to the role
  • Current Driver’s Licence
