The Team
Strategic Planning, Partnerships and Engagement is a high-performing statewide team within Health Planning that helps shape the future of Tasmania's health system. We lead strategic, system-level planning, support investment decisions, work closely with consumers, communities and clinicians, and help translate ideas into action.
We are collaborative, supportive and outcomes focused. Team members are trusted to take initiative, think strategically and contribute to meaningful system-wide outcomes. We value connection, partnerships, continuous improvement, learning and excellence in everything we do.
The Role
This is a unique opportunity to work at the centre of strategic planning, investment and reform across the Department of Health.
As the Principal Business Analyst, you will support the development of investment proposals, business cases and budget initiatives that help shape future health services across Tasmania. Working in partnership with clinical, operational, corporate and executive stakeholders, you will help connect service needs, strategic priorities and funding opportunities to support informed investment decisions.
You will work closely with teams across the Department to strengthen business cases, coordinate investment planning activities, and support the annual budget process. The role requires a strong ability to build relationships, navigate complexity and bring together data, evidence, stakeholder perspectives and strategic priorities to influence decision-making that optimise efficiency, equity and return on investment.
This is a highly visible and specialist role that provides the opportunity to influence statewide priorities, contribute to major reform initiatives, and help ensure investment decisions are strategically aligned to need and deliver meaningful outcomes for Tasmanians.
What You'll Bring
We're looking for a strategic and collaborative professional who thrives in complex environments and who enjoys connecting people, ideas and opportunities.
You will bring experience leading complex initiatives, developing high-quality strategic advice and building strong relationships across a diverse range of stakeholders. You will be a confident communicator with strong analytical skills, sound judgement and the ability to navigate competing priorities and sensitive issues.
Experience in business case development, investment planning, budget processes, funding models and/or resource allocation are recommended. Knowledge and experience of health economics principles and value-for-money assessment would be advantageous. Most importantly, you will bring curiosity, initiative and a commitment to working collaboratively to improve outcomes for Tasmanians.
