Job description:

Join a dedicated mental health team making a real difference in people's recovery journeys. Provide evidence-based assessment, treatment and support while working collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment focused on compassionate, person-centred care.

The Team

Statewide Mental Health Services delivers care to Tasmanians with mental health conditions in inpatient settings and in the community.

The Peacock Centre includes the following services: Mental Health Integration Hub, Peacock House and Safe Haven. All the services work together in an integrated way to assist meeting the needs of individuals, their families and support networks be providing respectful and responsive care, valuing the perspective of those with lived experience and ensuring an ongoing focus on recovery. 

Peacock House provides intensive mental health support in the community. The 12-bedroom unit is designed like a home to be open and welcoming and provides services to help people return to satisfying and meaningful lives. 

The Role

  • Ensure the delivery of a comprehensive clinical service through the provision of assessment, case management and individual therapies, including specialised therapies for service consumers and their families or carers
  • Provision of evidence-based assessment and treatment interventions for service consumers with major and complex mental health problems, including the development and implementation of specialised treatment programs.
  • Function as an active member of a multidisciplinary team including the provision of support and consultation to other team members as required.

You will need

  • A minimum of two years post graduate employment in a clinical area directly applicable to the community mental health setting.
  • Demonstrated clinical knowledge and understanding of mental health in relation to the community mental health setting including the ability to provide appropriate assessment of mental health problems.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the theoretical and practical application of a range of therapeutic interventions relevant to the community mental health setting with the ability to acquire further expertise into the future.

Details of appointment

Permanent part time, day worker position, working 45.6 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

*Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary

$117,272 to $126,182 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No. 2 of 2025.

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible. 

Allowances 

  • Please note that access to salaries beyond $123,487 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available: 

  • Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 per annum

Eligibility

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Tertiary qualification/program of study approved by the Psychology Board of Australia
  • Registered with the Psychology Board of Australia
  • Where required for a particular role: Area of practice Endorsement ie, Clinical Psychology, Clinical Neuropsychology, Counselling Psychology, Community Psychology, Educational and Developmental Psychology, Forensic Psychology, Health Psychology, Organisational Psychology, or Sport and Exercise Psychology

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

  • Holds area of practice endorsement in acute treatment
