
The Team
The Acute Care Team (ACT) works intensively in the community with people experiencing mental ill-health, and their families and supports. ACT may be the first point of contact in mental health services providing assessment and care to individuals who have not previously been seen by mental health services. Care is recovery-oriented and trauma-informed, designed to support people to regain their mental health and wellbeing. ACT provides an extended hours service seven days a week, 8:30am to 10:00pm.
The Role
Provides assertive community-based mental health care to consumers, including triage, comprehensive mental health assessments, assertive short-term care coordination, safety planning, and ongoing psychotherapeutic work using a range of modalities and techniques, transfer of care and discharge planning, in collaboration with consumers, families and carers, within a multi-disciplinary team.
- Provide discipline specific clinical expertise, support and clinical care to the team, consumers, their families and carers and other services throughout the broader community.
- Provide treatment recommendations and specialist advice to the multidisciplinary team, other health professionals and community managed organisations, as required, and assist with clinical decision making and the planning, implementation, and evaluation of care to facilitate a person centred and recovery oriented approach.
- Provide evidence-based, trauma informed assessment, specialist therapies and treatment interventions for consumers with acute and complex mental health problems, including the development and implementation of these interventions within the consumer’s home, in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, the consumers families and carers and other service providers.
You will need
- A minimum of two years postgraduate employment in a clinical area directly applicable to the Child and Adolescent, Adult Community, Inpatient and Extended Treatment and Older Persons Mental Health Service area.
- Demonstrated clinical knowledge and understanding of mental health in relation to the Child and Adolescent, Adult Community, Inpatient and Extended Treatment and Older Persons Mental Health Service area including the ability to provide appropriate assessment of mental health problems.
- Demonstrated expertise in the theoretical and practical application of a range of therapeutic interventions relevant to the Child and Adolescent, Adult Community and Older Persons Mental Health Service area, with a demonstrated commitment to acquire further expertise into the future.

Details of appointment
Multiple Permanent vacancies:
- Permanent full time, shift worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
- Permanent part time, shift worker position, working 38 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary
$117,272 to $126,182 per annum (pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No. 2 of 2025.
Salary Packaging
You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.
Allowances
- Please note that access to salaries beyond $123,487 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 per annum

Eligibility
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.
- Satisfactory completion of an approved allied health professional tertiary qualification/program of study and registered with the relevant National Board or, in the case of self-regulated allied health professions, full membership/eligible for membership with the relevant professional association
- Current Tasmanian Working with Children Registration
