
The Team:
The Child and Youth Mental Health Service (CYMHS) in Tasmania is growing! We are seeking passionate and dedicated Allied Health Professionals to provide clinical services to children/young people and their families/significant others experiencing mental health concerns. The positions available are within our new teams which are currently being developed as initiatives under the CYMHS reform program (Youth Mental Health, Divert and Connect (Youth Forensic Mental Health), Out of Home Care).

We are seeking Allied Health Professionals with experience in complex case management, assessment, counselling and/or therapy, and within mental health or relevant/related sector would be ideal. You would be working within a well-supported, innovative, diverse multidisciplinary team to provide developmentally appropriate treatment with young people, and their families.
The Role:
- Under the supervision of the senior allied health staff, engage and work with young people and their significant others to provide a responsive community-based mental health service, which includes triage, mental health assessments, risk assessment, assertive short-term care coordination, safety planning, and ongoing psychotherapeutic work using a range of modalities and techniques, transfer of care and discharge planning, in collaboration with consumers, families and carers, within a multidisciplinary team.
- In collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, facilitate access to a range of appropriate community and inpatient services, as required, to ensure people receive the right support in the right place and at the right time, including participating in comprehensive handovers and quality and safe transfer/discharge processes.
- Maintains professional communication and boundaries with colleagues, consumers and their families and carers that is inclusive, compassionate, and respectful.
You will need
- Contemporary knowledge and experience of child and youth mental health service care principles including statutory requirements, assessment, risk assessment, safety planning and the ability to implement this in the practice setting.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the theoretical and practical application of a range of therapeutic interventions relevant to CYMHS, with the ability to acquire further expertise into the future.
- Possession of a sound level of interpersonal skills with the ability to consult, liaise, negotiate, provide training and work co-operatively within the framework of a multi-disciplinary team, and the broader service system.

Details of appointment:
Permanent full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary
$81,614 to $117,074 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No. 2 of 2025

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

- Please note that access to salaries beyond $115,529 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 per annum

Eligibility:
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.
- Satisfactory completion of an appropriate allied health professional course of study at a recognised tertiary institution and registered with the relevant Board or, in the case of unregulated professions, eligible for membership of the relevant professional association.
- Current Working with Children Registration

- Post graduate experience in an area relevant to the role
- Postgraduate qualification or working towards a postgraduate qualification relevant to the role
