Job description:

You will support pharmacy services across a broad range of activities including dispensing medications, inventory management, ward-based medication support, patient enquiries, pharmacy manufacturing, and distribution services.

The Role

Join our hospital pharmacy team and help deliver safe, effective, and patient-focused pharmacy services. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will support pharmacy services across a broad range of activities including dispensing medications, inventory management, ward-based medication support, patient enquiries, pharmacy manufacturing, and distribution services. You'll play an important role in ensuring patients receive the right medication at the right time while contributing to the smooth operation of pharmacy services.

You will need

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team in a busy healthcare environment.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Knowledge of pharmacy operations, medication dispensing, or healthcare services will be highly regarded.

Details of appointment

Multiple permanent, full time and part time, day worker positions, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing from as soon as possible.

*Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary

$76,849 to $82,996 pro rata per annum + our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2025

Eligibility

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Possess or be actively enrolled in Certificate III or IV in Health Services Assistance (Hospital and Community Health Pharmacy Assistance) from a recognised education institution; or
  • Possess or be actively enrolled in Certificate III or IV in Hospital/Health Services Pharmacy Support from a recognised educational institution; or
  • An Associated Diploma from a recognised educational institution, or an equivalent qualification, that is relevant to the work of a Pharmacy Technician.

  • Other qualifications or work experience that is relevant to the position of Pharmacy Technician

Applicants should note, the position features:

  • Depending on the region in which the incumbent is based, the term ‘site’ refers specifically to Royal Hobart Hospital (Southern region), Launceston General Hospital (Northern region) and Mersey Community Hospital and North West Regional Hospital (North West region). For the location South - Virtual Care, the incumbent may be required to work at any Southern Region Virtual Care Hub, or may be required to work at the Royal Hobart Hospital as directed.
  • May be required to participate in after-hours on-call work
  • May be rostered to work weekend or extended hours services
  • Intrastate travel may be required
