Job description:

Join a collaborative Finance and Business Support team delivering financial insights, reporting, and strategic advice to support effective decision‑making and performance across Hospitals South. Analyse trends, prepare reports, and partner with stakeholders to drive efficiency and improve service outcomes.

The Team

The Finance and Business Support team partners closely with clinical and operational units across Hospitals South to support informed decision-making and responsible resource management. The team provides financial analysis, budgeting, performance reporting, and strategic advice to ensure services are delivered efficiently and sustainably. Working collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders, the team plays a critical role in monitoring performance, identifying improvement opportunities, and supporting frontline services to achieve high-quality outcomes for the Tasmanian community.

The Role

  • Prepare financial reports which may include monthly reports, end of year forecasts and variance analysis, for a range of users.
  • Prepare performance reports incorporating human resource, service activity and financial information. Advise clients on appropriate actions to take to achieve targets and provide support to implement.
  • Undertake in depth analysis of business unit and cost centre performance, identifying key issues, trends and variances. Provide advice and make recommendations to the relevant Business Manager to implement agreed strategies.

You will need

  • Demonstrated understanding of business systems, accrual and cash accounting concepts and accounting procedures with experience in applying this understanding within business operational environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in research, investigation and analytical skills with an ability to clearly articulate the results and recommend actions to make improvements.
  • Demonstrated high level attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and quality.

Details of appointment

Multiple Permanent, full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

*Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary

$102,027 to $106,985 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2025.
