The Role
The ACC is a nurse led unit. The HoD is the only medical role attached directly to ACC.
- Oversee the medical governance of the unit.
- Provide clinical support to Nurse Unit Manager.
- Provide clinical review of new requests to access ACC.
- Review current access to ACC from a clinical perspective and advise on appropriateness.
- Provide Medical Liaison to Medical and other units that access ACC to care for the patients. This can entail:
- Revision of protocols.
- Discussion of Home Team RMO performance in ACC (e.g. timely completion of ACC paperwork).
- Discussion to enable timely treatment in ACC.
- Provide education to ACC nursing staff and community ACC units.
- Liaise with community ACC with respect to clinical queries.
- Liaise as needed with out of RHH referrers as needed.
- Triage the iron and zoledronic acid referrals.

Salary
Medical Practitioners (Public Sector) Award
A remuneration package comprising the Agreement base salary, relevant allowances and other entitlements will be negotiated with the successful applicant dependent on clinical experience and seniority.
Base salary points range for Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1 at $222,789 through to Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 11 at $305,539 with further salary increments available.
- Please note that access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range $309,222 - $319,701 is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1, 2 or 3 as outlined in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award
Medical Practitioners Agreement 2025
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Managerial allowance
- Allowance in lieu of motor vehicle currently set at $28,786 pro rata per annum, paid fortnightly (with CPI indexation on 1 July each year).
- Continuing Professional Development Allowance of $17,483 pro rata per annum.
- All other allowances as per current Award.
- And subject to approval from the Private Patient Scheme Committee (PPS), 35% of Base salary plus on-call, pro rata) of additional payment will be paid from (PPS). If not admitted to the PPS, a 35% in lieu of PPS of base salary will be paid.

Details of Appointment
Fixed term, part-time day work, working 10.64 hours per fortnight. Commencing from 1 July 2026 for 3 years.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time and casual vacancies.

Essential Requirements
- Holds specialist registration; or
- Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) who is on the specialist pathway
- Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) who has a recognised overseas specialist qualification and is assessed as having sufficient experience in the speciality.
The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:

- Serious drug offences
