Job description:

As a Business Manager provide strategic, financial and operational leadership for the Department of Medicine, supporting Directors with planning, budgeting, procurement, contracts, reporting, risk management, performance monitoring, service improvement and staff guidance, while working autonomously and collaboratively.

The Role

Provide the Directors (Clinical and Nursing) of the Department of Medicine with high-level business expertise, advice, recommendations and support including strategic planning, business planning, management of procurement processes, contract management and management of both financial and non-financial operations including human resources, policies, projects and asset management.
Act as the key link for the overall Department of Medicine business management. This includes financial management, statistical information, budgetary issues, performance monitoring, specific or major research, investigations or reviews as required.
 
As a member of the Department of Medicine, develop standards, performance indicators and financial reports for the Department, in addition to representing the Department on committees as required.
 
Working directly with the Directors (Clinical and Nursing) in the Department of Medicine, the position reports to the Manager – Finance and Business, and is expected to:
 
Work with a high degree of autonomy and considerable independence in undertaking the responsibilities of the position in a complex specialised environment.
 
Work closely with the Manager – Finance and Business to assist with providing financial and business support, undertaking reporting, analysis and providing other information in relation to the financial operations of the Department of Medicine as required.
 
Work collaboratively with members of the Department of Medicine Management Team and Services.
 
Utilise expertise and initiative in leading activities, including analyses, risk identification and management, reporting and preparing options and recommendations and developing and implementing solutions for improving service delivery outcomes.
 
Provide support, guidance, and instruction to others within Department of Medicine in undertaking specific tasks and projects.

You will need

  • Demonstrated prior financial management experience 
  • Able to work as a part of a team and providing support and direction to a business analyst
  • Tertiary qualifications and/or significant progress towards a Business/Management related field would be an advantage

Details of appointment

Permanent full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

*Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary

$111,754 to $126,579 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2025
