Job description:

Provide meals of a high standard to patients, residents, community clients and staff. Ensure individualised dietary needs are provided. Ensure all meal preparation and meal delivery meets the standards set out in the Food Safety Plan. Monitor the use and storage of food, perishable goods and other consumables in accordance with the standards set out in the Food Safety Plan.

The Team

The Flinders Island Multipurpose Centre (FIMPC) is a vital hub for community and allied health services on Flinders Island, dedicated to supporting the local community through a wide range of healthcare services. Our facility includes 5 acute beds, 3 emergency department beds, and 9 residential aged care beds. 

The Role

The FIMPC are currently seeking a Relief Cook to join our team. This role will primarily involve cooking duties, with a strong emphasis on infection prevention and control. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and hygienic environment whilst providing meals of the highest standard to our residents, patients, community members and staff.

You will need

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide and deliver a variety of nutritious, high quality, appealing, enjoyable meals which take into account patients and residents preferences and meets any special dietary needs, including any cultural and religious requirements
  • Ensuring work practices comply with food safe and infection control requirements
  • Maintain hygiene in the kitchen area, ensuring that staff working in this area comply with all safety and food safe regulations and requirements
  • Provide supervision and direction to other kitchen staff

Details of appointment

  • Fixed term, casual, position working as and when required, commencing as soon as possible for approximately 12 months 

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary

$65,827 to $68,854 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Union Wages Agreement 2025
