The Team
Set near a picturesque Tasmanian coastline, the North West Regional Hospital, Burnie is a 160-bed facility and is the principal referral centre for the North West Tasmanian community and provides general medicine, surgical (including orthopaedic), intensive care, cancer services, paediatric services, outpatient clinics and specialist services. The hospital has close ties with the University of Tasmania through the Rural Clinical School and with TAFE Tasmania thus providing opportunities for comprehensive training.
The NWRH Operating Theatre is a vibrant, supportive team consisting of four operating theatres providing Orthopaedics, Gynaecology, General Surgery, ENT, Endoscopy and Dental services. The Role
The Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) in the Perioperative Theatre at North West Regional Hospital is accountable for applying nursing expertise and contemporary teaching and learning practice to implement education programs for nurses that align with the strategic priorities of Hospitals North West, respond to emerging clinical need and facilitates professional development for the nursing workforce.
- Leads safe and quality nursing care through the advancement of evidence-based nursing practice and patient-centred care in an area of clinical and professional speciality.
- Applies high level professional and clinical expertise in collaboration with nursing, midwifery and multidisciplinary stakeholders to enact education and development strategies for nursing and midwifery practice and the Organisation.
- Plans, assesses, implements and evaluates educational programs to ensure they align with the needs of the Organisation and nursing workforce.
- Models' commitments to the values of the nursing profession including open communication to build respectful relationships across the multidisciplinary team and has accountability, integrity, and contributes to positive workplace culture.
- Works in accordance with the strategic direction of Hospitals North West and the Organisations Nursing and Midwifery Strategic Framework.
You will need:
- Extensive experience in the perioperative environment either in anaesthetics nursing, post anaesthetic care unit (PACU) or the Scrub Scout role across the specialties of trauma, orthopaedics and general surgery.

Lead and deliver innovative nursing education programs that support clinical excellence and patient-centred care.

Mentor and develop nurses through clinical teaching, supervision and evidence-based professional development.

Influence workforce capability, quality improvement and best-practice outcomes as part of a clinical leadership team.

Details of appointment
Permanent, part time, day worker, working 16 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as you can join us.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary
$118,297 to $125,543 pro rata per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available
- Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type
