The Team
The Occupational Therapy Service includes over 90 team members consisting of occupational therapists and assistants, play specialists, diversional therapists, carpenter, and administration officers. We work across acute, sub-acute and community settings, including the Royal Hobart Hospital, the largest teaching Hospital in Tasmania. The Role
As a Senior Occupational Therapist, you will provide advanced clinical assessment and intervention for older people on the Geriatric Evaluation and Management Unit, working as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team. You will play a key role in leading clinical practice, providing supervision and support to occupational therapists, students and support staff, and contributing to service development through quality improvement, evidence-based practice, research and education activities. This position offers the opportunity to influence patient outcomes, support innovative service delivery, and contribute to the ongoing growth and excellence of Occupational Therapy services. You will be supported by the Occupational Therapy Rehabilitation Team, including the Clinical Lead and Deputy Manager.
You will need
- Significant experience with older people in a sub-acute setting.
- Experience working in a multidisciplinary team with demonstrated understanding of client centred practice and an ability to advocate for clients’ needs within the service.
- Experience supervising and developing staff with a focus on wellbeing.

Details of appointment
Fixed term part time, day worker, working 68.4 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible until 20 August 2027.
*Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary
$117,272 to $126,182 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No. 2 of 2025

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible. (delete if no access)
Allowances
- Please note that access to salaries beyond $123,487 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Professional Development Allowance of up to $1200 per annum, paid on a fortnightly, pro rata basis.
