The Team
The nurse unit Manager (NUM) is part of the Beaconsfield District health Service leadership team and works closely with the Director of Nursing to provide safe, high quality person centred care to our community.
The nursing team consists of Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses and Assistants, supported by allied health, hotel services, administration, activities and Diversional therapists, community and home help support staff. The team provides 24 hour care across aged care, sub-acute, respite, palliative care, day centre and community services as part of a rural Multipurpose Service.
The team works collaboratively with a strong focus on resident and patient safety, quality improvement, workforce development and a positive, respectful culture. As part of the Tasmanian Health Service, we partner with consumers, families, GPs and community organisations to deliver accessible integrated health care to the West Tamar community.
The Role
As Nurse Unit Manager at Beaconsfield District health Service, you will provide effective clinical and operational leadership across our rural Multipurpose Service. You will lead and support a multidisciplinary team in the delivery of safe, high quality person centred care across sub-acute, residential aged care and community services.
You will be responsible for the day to day management of the service, including workforce planning, clinical governance, quality and safety, staff development and supporting positive workplace culture. Working collaboratively with staff, consumers, families and key stakeholders, you will contribute to the ongoing development and delivery of responsive health services that meet the need of the West Tamar community.
You will need
- Demonstrated extensive clinical knowledge and experience relevant to acute, subacute, emergency, Residential Aged Care, and community care.
- Comprehensive knowledge of and experience in contemporary nursing management practice, including clinical governance; clinical risk management; evidenced based practice; research; clinical standards; ethics; and legislation.
- Individuals will demonstrate capability to be adaptable and respond and adjust easily to change. They are proactive and self-directed and will seize opportunities and act upon them, ensuring improved outcomes for the practice area.

Details of appointment
Permanent full time, day worker, working 76 hours per fortnight, from the 11th of October 2026.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary
$126,036 to $132,932 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

- Rural Professional Development Allowance of an additional salary allowance of 4%
