The Team
Population Screening and Cancer Prevention oversees the delivery of Tasmania's population cancer screening and prevention services, including BreastScreen Tasmania, the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program, the National Cervical Screening Program, and the National Lung Cancer Screening Program. The team also provides the Diagnostic Breast Imaging service, and works collaboratively with healthcare providers and key stakeholders to support early cancer detection and improve health outcomes for Tasmanians.
The Role
The Nurse Practitioner - Cervical Cancer Elimination provides advanced, autonomous and extended clinical nursing services to improve equitable access to cervical screening and cervical cancer prevention services across Tasmania.
The position maintains a substantive clinical caseload and provides direct assessment, diagnosis, therapeutic management, referral, ordering and interpretation of diagnostic investigations, prescribing and management of episodes of care within an approved Nurse Practitioner scope of practice. The role delivers opportunistic and targeted cervical screening services in communities and settings where participation is low and barriers to access exist.
You will need:
- Extensive experience in advanced and evidence-based nursing practice relevant to cervical screening, women's health, sexual health, cancer prevention and/or primary health care.
- Broad understanding of the legal and ethical framework, and the political, social and organisational environment impacting on health service delivery in Tasmania, with the ability to apply this understanding within the Nurse Practitioner context.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, implement and evaluate projects, evidence-based practice, quality improvement initiatives and innovative models of care.

Details of appointment
Fixed term, full time, day worker position, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible for up to 36 months.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary
$148,470 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type

- Postgraduate qualifications in public health, health promotion, women's health or a related discipline.
- Relevant experience in cervical screening, women's health, sexual and reproductive health, cancer prevention, population health or primary healthcare.
