Job description:

To provide high level support to the regional Works Coordinator for the purpose of installing and maintaining traffic control equipment across the respective region, and to undertake complex specialist tasks and team supervision related to traffic signal and Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) installation and maintenance.

Duties

  • Work with the Works Coordinator to deliver the annual works program in the respective region, including liaising with local government, contractors and other stakeholders, scheduling tasks and allocating staff and resources to tasks.
  • Provide input regarding the operation and state of equipment in the field to assist in the development of the works program and asset renewal for Traffic Signals.
  • Provide supervision, assistance and guidance to Senior Electrical Technicians (SET) for all technical matters, to ensure delivery of the works program including:
    • installation, testing, and maintenance of traffic signal infrastructure.
    • installation, testing, and maintenance of Intelligent Traffic System (ITS) assets
    • related assets, systems and equipment to ensure that it meets quality standards.
  • Use expert knowledge of specialised management software including SCATS, STREAMS, CCTV and other control systems to monitor road network conditions and traffic signal assets.
  • Utilise and ensure SET’s constantly update the Traffic Signals Maintenance fault and defect management system Reflect, to respond and rectify reported signal and other asset issues.
  • Plan, document and coordinate the delivery of structured works for complex traffic signal projects, including the management of various contractors.
  • Undertake and complete regular specialised training to ensure currency of knowledge on signal and ITS assets.
  • Demonstrate expert knowledge of specialised management software including REFLECT, SCATS, STREAMS, Security Desk and other control systems to monitor and interpret faults on the road network and traffic signal assets.
  • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of all TSM WHS systems: SWMS, Work instructions and Lucidity.
  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of Specification 730, 733 and associated drawings. and ensure the department acquires new assets compliant with these specifications and Australian Standards.

Essential Requirements

Evidence of the following must be provided prior to appointment to this role:

  • Current Electrical Practitioners Licence
  • A current driver's licence.

The person must continue to satisfy the above essential requirements/qualifications throughout their employment in this role.

Desirable Requirements

  • Open Cabler Accreditation and Fibre Endorsement.
